I was given the task of creating a spider that would "make the viewer's spine tingle" for the mod Ivan's Secrets http://ivans-secrets.com/ and this is what came out of it:
this was seriously too much fun to create. I put on some nasty sounding music, gathered up some heinous looking spider images and went to town. When this creature is rendered in the game I am told its going to be about 2 feet big and shriek like nothing you've ever heard before. I can't wait to shoot hordes of these guys with a shotgun!

Updates
This is the first environment concept for Ryan Sanderson's Unreal UDK project.( http://www.3dryan.blogspot.com/ ).
This is the last in my nature themed work for a long while. I started out doing this theme because I didn't want to just do the more typical big hulking men in huge suits of armor with super slick machine guns or those tired modern style soldiers with Kevlar helmets and specialized M-4 assault rifles with various attachments. But in other news: my game of the year pick is Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

New style/technique
I decided to try rendering in gray scale in photoshop then adding color layers via setting the layer properties to overlay or color, Then doing any final details in full color.

Vile Lands/Half life 2 mapping update
This is the environment for the 'evil' looking characters for this nature themed universe. I sketched out a color rough that depicted a barren wasteland that looked too much like a desert and not the type of place that these creatures would dwell. I went here with more of a forest that is not fully green and living but more to the realm where the forest is so old its on it's death bed.
Half Life 2 mapping:
I have been contracted to work on a map for a new zombie survival game that is using the source engine, but most importantly its using predominantly Half Life 2: Episode 2 models, materials, and particles. The mod itself is a survival. You and your friends are held up in this mansion way out in the woods where you fight off hordes of attacking undead. How long will the ammo hold out?

Homestead
This is a snapshot of where the forest characters live. I have created all the characters and it was nessicary to illustrate where they live. Very soon the series will be complete and with be released in a full universe concept series.
